Alabama: RGI assists historic Boy Scout camp

Recently, Alabama Dept. of Transportation District Construction Manager Kevin Evers asked for help on much needed repairs to the entrance road for Camp Westmoreland, a historic boy scout camp that borders Shoals Creek in Florence, Alabama. Rogers Group recognized the need and was glad to assist the camp that has been hosting Boy Scouts since 1929.

In addition to donating the necessary stone for the project, local construction employees coordinated efforts with Mr. Evers and used an RGI grader to get the job done.

Listed on the Alabama Historical Commission Register of Landmarks and Heritage, Camp Westmoreland has a history that is matched by few campsites. It has hosted famous visitors such as entertainer Gene Autry and world-renowned photographer Jack Delano. Land on the north side of the camp was once owned in part by Chief Scout Citizen and President Theodore Roosevelt.
